Sharon (and Senior Pt Guard James Fritzon) Down Trojans 68-64

The Trojans, who were fresh off a 2 game winning streak and with their confidence level at an all time high, headed into the Championship game of the BR Holiday Tournament against a familiar foe, the Sharon Eagles on Sunday afternoon. Having recently scrimmaged the Eagles the Trojans felt confident that they could compete/beat them. Eagles Senior Point Guard, James Fritzon, had other plans. Fritzon scored 13 first quarter points, almost singlehandedly outscoring the Trojans, giving the Eagles a 21-15 lead after 1.
The Trojans stormed back in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Eagles 21-13, to take a halftime lead 36-34, with Alex Rose and Jaime Carey pitching in 6 a piece to help the cause. Junior Nick Demos was on fire in the 3rd quarter scoring 7 of his 11 points in the frame to keep the Trojans in the game as they trailed by 1 entering the 4th. Unfortunately for the Trojans it was all about James Fritzon, as the Senior scored a game high 33 points, which proved to be a little too much, as the Eagles held the Trojans to only 11 4th quarter points and captured the W. Senior point guard Jaime Carey was named to the Tournament all-star team and finished with a team high 16 points. Junior Nick Demos finished with 11 points, and Seniors Joe Freiday and Andy Groh pitched in with 9 points each. Eagles Senior James Fritzon was named tournament MVP. The 2-3 Trojans head to Silver Lake HS on Thursday for a rematch against the Lakers.

Trojans advance to Championship game!

The Trojans improve to 2-2 defeating Silver Lake and advance to the championship game of the BR Holiday Tournament in a very exciting back-and-forth game that ended with the Trojans winning 84 to 71.
Senior Kayleen Walsh started things off with a nice rendition of the National Anthem.

The Trojans trailed 11 to 10 after one and trailed 27 to 30 at the half, but rebounded nicely in the second half, pouring it on in the 4th quarter scoring 32 points in the final frame. With the game tied at 71 with 1:56 left Isiah Bell took over!
Once again Jaime Carey led the Trojans with 23 points, Rashad Bell had 17 points, Isiah Bell had 14 points (8 huge points in the 4th), Joe Freiday had 13 points and 16 rebounds, and Alex Rose had 10 points.
For the Lakers Tanner Bouchard (who fouled out with 1:00 to go) scored a game high 27 points including making 9 straight free throws in the 4th quarter!
The Trojans will square off against Sharon HS in the Championship game Sunday at 4:45!

Trojans Stun Brockton!

The 0-2 Trojans galloped into Brockton High on Thursday Night and upset The Brockton Boxers by a score of 74-71 in the most exciting game of the early season!
Coach Larry Fisher subbed early and often as the Trojan fresh legs out hustled and out manned the Brockton Boxers. The Trojans jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and led 16-12 after the first quarter, and would have led 32-23 at the half but a Boxer threw up a half court 3 pointer that bounced 4 times on the rim and fell in for the home town bounce and the momentum "seemed" to turn the Boxers way heading into the locker room at half time cutting the Trojan lead to 6.
The lead was back and forth as Jaime Carey broke out of his shell and took over the game as if he was playing in the school yard!

The Boxers bounced back and the score was tied at 46 after three.
"Down the stretch they come!"
The Trojans hung in and battled, as Alex Rose (12 points and 10 rebounds) played with his heart on his sleeve and fouled out with 1:00 to go.
The Trojans thwarted the Boxer comeback leading by 3 with under 1 minute to go and held on for an exciting 74-71 victory!!
Jaime Carey had 23 points, Joe Freiday had 13 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks, and Rashad Bell had 12 points and 10 rebounds!!
Awesome effort by The Trojans!
Video highlights to follow!!!! (Saturday)??
The Trojans Improve to 1-2 as they head into the Holiday break.
It's always nice to get a retweet from Chris Herren!!

Trojans fall to The Whitman-Hanson Panthers.

The Trojans drop to 0-2 on the season as the Whitman Hanson Panthers made 10 3 pointers on route to a 65-52 road win and advance to 1-0 on the season.
Senior guard Shane Devlin had 3 of those 3 pointers on his way to 15 total points, and Senior guard Brian Feeney led all scorers with 23 points.
The Trojans were led by Junior Isiah Bell who had 15 points and Jaime Carey 10 points.
It doesn't get any easier for the Trojans as they hit the road and face off against the 0-1 Brockton Boxers on Thursday night at Brockton High School.
I promise to put together some video "highlights" when there is something "highlight" worthy to post... Like a W!!!

Trojans fall to Quincy in home opener.

The BR Trojans lost their home opener to the Quincy High School Presidents by a score of 67-48.
The Trojans jumped out to an early 11-5 lead in the 1st quarter, but that lead was short lived as the Presidents roared back forcing 18 first half turnovers, utilizing a very efficient full court press, and took a 35-25 half time lead. That lead proved to be too much to recover from as the Presidents continued their full court press throughout the game.  The nail in the coffin came when the Presidents opened the 4th quarter hitting three 3 pointers deflating any chance of a Trojan comeback.
Jamie Carey led the scoring for the Trojans with 12 points and Joe  Freiday chipped in with 8 points.
It doesn't get any easier for the Trojans as they face off against the Whitman Hanson Panthers on Tuesday at 6:30 at BR.

Scrimmage V Attleboro

The Trojans Scrimmaged the Attleboro Bombardiers on Monday night in six 8 minute quarters. Coach Fisher experimented with several different lineups as the Trojans matched up rather evenly with the Bombardiers.
Offensive standouts for the Trojans included Senior Rashad Bell (who scored a lot of points) and Sophomore Terrel Williams, who played both sides of the ball well and threw down a nice dunk in the first quarter.
Other players who stood out included Senior Alex Rose(13 points), Senior Blake Vanderbrink, Junior Connor Reagan, and Senior Andy Groh!
Tim Mabry gets my "Pete Rose" hustle award as he was electric every minute he was in the game! Our "fill in" scorekeepers Morgan Freiday and Connor Walsh did a splendid job!
The Trojans will scrimmage Sharon at 3:30 (depending upon the weather) at Sharon High on Tuesday afternoon as they hope to find the magical combination that will propel this team to the "postseason" where they haven't been in several years.
Opening night is December 13th at home against Quincy!

No where to go but up?  Max Preps has the Trojans currently ranked 11,591 in the country and 267th in the state of MA.......

BasketBlog! Tic-Toc

As you can see by the countdown timer above the BR Trojans Boys Varsity Basketball Season will be starting soon. I am writing a Blog to follow the action and I will be covering the good, the bad, and the ugly! Hopefully there will be more good, than bad and ugly!!
The Trojans, led by Head Coach  Larry Fisher, are hoping to rebound from a disappointing 2012-2013 campaign where the Trojans could only muster 4 wins.
JV and Varsity tryouts will take place on Mon-Tues from 6:30-8:30PM and on Wed from 4:30-6:30PM.
Rumor has it there will be a few "old faces" trying out for a spot on the Trojans roster that haven't played in years past. The Trojans will open up on December 13th at home V Quincy.
11 days until Opening Night! Tic toc.....
